Opening with thanks to Gary & James for the dent they made in the blackberry last month. We've actually discovered what amounts to a little cave back in there; for the moment.

The growing season is well and truly on us which means there are significant amounts of weeding and spraying to be done; it would also be nice not to have the lawn get away on us this year.
On the flip side we need to install chicken wire to protect some plants from the attentions of the resident rabbits; that or find a good home for a pair of large, friendly chocolate domestic Rexes ("left" we think at the Hall at New Years).

One of the break ins during the last fortnight left crockery smashed across the dining room floor; so someone will need to sweep up in there. It's also time we did another plaster clean-up in the chapel balcony.

I've been reminded that I regularly forget to mention times in these emails; the Hall will be open from 10am to 4pm on the day and people are welcome to just come in for an hour or two where they can.

The weather forecast looks drier than this weekend has been, so hope to see you there

In terms of the restoration of the property, what if a public trust was created that people could donate money, and ultimately purchase the property? Similar to some land up north that this happened to in the last couple of years (can't remember the exact details). Antonio Hall is to me, the most beautiful property in Christchurch (alongside the Basilica Church) and every year that slips by, I fear it's destruction is closer. It would be such a shame to lose such a beautiful and history rich piece of Christchurch.

That went viral and raised $2.3million with a significant government contribution; based on current information we'd need to at least quintuple that to stand a chance of acquiring the Hall 🙁
